Yesteryear Collection

One day after the first Dodge automobile rolled off the production line, the first Dodge commercial chassis followed and was later fitted with a utility body. While Dodge commercial chassis were shipped to England, the demand for automobiles was so great that Dodge would not attempt a domestic commercial vehicle for some time. After General Pershing sang the praises of the rugged Dodge automobile based on its performance in Pershing's Mexican campaign, Dodge began building thousands of trucks for the military. In 1917, a Dodge truck was offered to the public - a virtual duplicate of the military model. Just as military demand brought about that first 1917 Dodge commercial truck, it was the millitary again that was responsible for the legendary Power Wagon WDX. In 1946, after World War II, Dodge set out to create the most useful and versatile vehicle ever and adapted its 3/4-ton 4x4 military truck for its civilian line. The Power Wagon WDX was now a 1-ton vehicle suitable for a wide range of agricultural and industrial uses. Its 230-cubic-inch, six-cylinder engine was more than sufficient to power a vehicle that could carry a 3000-pound payload. Capable of transporting such auxiliary equipment as optional winches and pulleys, the Dodge Power Wagon WDX was truly a worhorse, an impressive vehicle created for the toughest jobs. Now this classic truck is recreated in a magnificent die-cast replica produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
